How does local image compression work?

This tool loads your image into your browser memory, draws it onto an off-screen HTML5 <canvas> element, and compiles it back into your chosen image format using standard browser API encoding options (which apply the lossy compression level specified on the quality slider). Since all steps execute locally on your processor, no images are uploaded to any server.
